Sea-Lix

Mentum initiated the development of a bi-directional turbine already in 2006, inspired firstly by the energy potential of the tides. The project evolved over some time, and in 2011 it was decided to arrange the project as a standalone company. Sea-Lix AS was established.

Sea-Lix AS is developing a bi-directional contra-rotating twin turbine technology suitable for applications in the tidal scenario as well as for applications in the conventional hydropower markets. In these contexts, the design is innovative in it self. An additional feature including an integrated gearless generator make it unique. The concept is protected by a number of patent applications now in the PCT phase.

The initial market for Sea-lix will be in the hydropower area. The company is seeking to install a pilot unit in Norway in 2014. A range of commercial products is planned launched in 2015.

Mentum will continue to play a lead role in the development of Sea-Lix, and is also a major shareholder.
