Ballast Water Management

Mentum have experience from the development of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments and its tools and have assisted authorities in facilitation of policies and strategies in relation to the implementation of related Regulations.

We initiated the establishment of OceanSaver AS – a dominating and major supplier of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) and have been responsible for the development of the technology in which this system make use of. This includes:

  • Applied Cavitation – Close Circuit/ Circumference Cavitation technology: C3T;
  • Supersaturation and oxygen deprivation;
  • Water splitting by membrane electrolysis;

Discharge of ballast water – a threat to marine biodiversity.

We are developing these technologies further for other applications.
